After several years of postdoctoral research in Neuroscience, Katja joined the Mount Royal community in 1994 to pursue her passion for teaching. Katja has taught a wide variety of courses in biology and was integrally involved in designing and implementing the Bachelor of Science major in Health Science. Over the past two decades, Katja Hoehn has co-authored several Anatomy and Physiology textbooks. This endeavor allows her to combine her expertise in research, clinical medicine, and the classroom, and to extend her teaching to a much wider audience. Katja was honored with the Max Forman (Jr.) Prize for excellence in medical research from the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation in 1991, a Students’ Association Teaching Excellence Award in 2001, a Distinguished Faculty Award in 2004 and a Career Achievement Award in 2019.
